Red, orange, gold, and the occasional evergreen that clearly didn’t get the dress code. Even the drive to lunch takes twice as long, because somebody keeps saying, “Wait, look at THAT.”

Hike the Catskills

Belleayre’s trails run from the easy half-mile Woodchuck Way to longer climbs toward the summit. Feeling ambitious? Giant Ledge, Mount Tremper’s fire tower and Slide Mountain, the highest peak in the Catskills, will make your legs question your vacation choices.
Or walk half a mile, take a picture and tell everyone you went hiking. We don’t judge.
🚗 Follow Route 28
No itinerary needed. Head toward Big Indian and Phoenicia, stop when something looks interesting, and buy something you absolutely didn’t know you needed. Keep going to the Ashokan Rail Trail for huge reservoir views, then wander Woodstock’s galleries and vintage shops.
That’s basically the Catskills operating manual.

Fall and waterfalls belong together. it’s a wonderful day trip that leads you to a breathtaking landscape. Try Mine Kill Falls for an easy one, or Kaaterskill Falls for the classic. Go on a weekday, and you won’t be standing behind 17 people waiting for the same Instagram shot.

Light the fire. Open a bottle of wine. Put the phone down. Pick it back up when the sunset gets ridiculous. Put it down again.
