🍁 Weekends Are Booked. Weekdays Are the Secret.

The Catskills don’t do subtle in October.
The hillsides around Belleayre are on fire with color. The waterfalls are framed in red and gold. Every back road looks like someone staged it.
Here’s the situation at Alpine Four Season Lodge: our October weekends are fully booked. Weekdays are going fast, and frankly, they’re the better deal.
Same mountains. Same color. Half the people.

🎨 Opus 40: One Man, One Quarry, One Lifetime

Sculptor Harvey Fite took an abandoned bluestone quarry in Saugerties and spent decades turning it into more than six acres of hand-fitted stone. It looks like an ancient ruin that shows up on no map.

Walk the ramps, climb the terraces, and look out toward Overlook Mountain.

Weekday tip: Opus 40 is open Thursday through Monday, 10 AM to 5 PM, with last entry at 4. Plan it for a Monday or Thursday.

✌️ Woodstock: Coffee, Galleries, Good Vibes

Woodstock is still the Catskills’ favorite day trip. Independent shops, galleries, a good coffee, and a town that has never once taken itself too seriously.

Got legs? The Overlook Mountain hike pays you back with the ruins of an old mountain hotel, a fire tower, and a view all the way to the Hudson.

💦 Kaaterskill Falls: Two Tiers, Zero Subtlety

Kaaterskill Falls drops more than 230 feet in two tiers, roughly 260 feet with the lower cascades. It ranks among the tallest waterfalls in New York.

The good news: the viewing platform is about a quarter mile from the Laurel House Road parking area, on a mostly gravel path. Stay on marked trails, stay behind the fences, and never park on Route 23A, where cars get towed.

🌊 Chase One More Waterfall

Diamond Notch Falls near Hunter is a quieter, easy-to-love cascade along the West Kill, and it’s beautiful in fall color. Bring good shoes and a camera.

🍂 Take Tuesday Off. Or Wednesday. We’re Not Picky.

Peak foliage doesn’t check the calendar. On a weekday you get quiet trails, easy parking, and a table for brunch without a 45-minute wait.

Spend the day chasing color. Come back to Highmount. Put your feet up. Pour something good.

Tomorrow involves zero crowded parking lots.

🍁 The Leaves Won’t Wait. Neither Should You.

Weekends are gone. Select weekday stays are still open, and they won’t last past peak.

Don’t be the one scrolling everyone else’s foliage photos in November.

Book direct for our best available rate, with no third-party fees.
